Name: Heritage Flight Museum - Earthrise Gallery Opening Fly Day
Date: May 21, 2022
Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
The Earthrise Gallery features artifacts and memorabilia from museum founder, Major General Bill Ander’s storied career. Named for the iconic photograph, Earthrise, taken by Anders while on Apollo 8’s ‘mission of firsts’ to the moon in December 1968. This photo has been heralded as one of the most significant images of the 20th century. The ’68 Experience exhibit will take you back to that tumultuous year, one that was said to have been saved by Apollo 8’s mission around the moon. Museum Executive Director, Greg Anders, says “We are excited to step into a new era for the Heritage Flight Museum. The two new entry galleries will allow our community to more effectively understand why our museum is so special and how it can help bring additional credit to Skagit Valley’s business friendly environment.” On Thursday, May 19, 2022, a brief ribbon cutting will be held at 10am. We invite the public to attend. The Gallery Opening Fly Day is scheduled for May 21, 2022, from 10am-4pm, a great chance to see the exhibits as well as the museum’s vintage aircraft in flight.
