SUMMARY:MoNA - Allen Moe: The Earth Below - the interactions of sand\, water\, and gravity at the mouth of the Skagit River
DESCRIPTION:In the Benaroya Glass Gallery this spring\, we feature a series of modified cement castings made by Allen Moe\, the latest work by Skagit's own artist-adventurer.\n\n\n\nMoe's reliefs are a kind of organic expressionism\; they document and abstract the very land they come from. The artist likens his process to photography: he records information by making a negative (the plaster casting of the tide flats)\, and from that he casts a postive in cement. Instead of recording light\, Moe captures the physical presence of these landforms.\n\n\n\nThis series is a chronicle of a specific time and place at the mouth of the Skagit River\, not far from this Museum.
