Event Description:
The exhibition Peter Millett: Built Forms (on display at the Museum of Northwest Art from October 12, 2024-January 12, 2025) features works fabricated from weathering steel, an alloy that forms a protective rust patina. Weathering steel has become a favorite medium for sculptors in recent years and such works by many of the most prominent sculptors of the modern area are sited in the Northwest, some in the Skagit Valley. This lecture will feature these works and where to find them, information about weathering steel properties, and how these properties can be applied to the care and conservation of weathering steel sculpture.
