When Life magazine identified a new distinctive art form developing mid-century in Seattle, they could well have extended it to Portland. There, Carl and Hilda Morris were forging new paths to modernism contemporaneously with Tobey, Graves, Callahan, and Anderson in Washington. This exhibition from MoNA's permanent collection provides an extensive look at what was happening to our south in that time period.
