Name: Exhibit at the PNW Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum: Scatter Sunshine - La Conner in Bloom Challenge 2021
Date: March 30, 2021 - May 2, 2021
Event Description:
For our challenge theme this year, we took an optimistic stance and looked forward to bright, warm sunny days!   The phrase comes from the title of an 1890s American hymn, written by Lanta Wilson Smith with the happy refrain, “Scatter sunshine all along the way; Cheer and bless and brighten every passing day.”  The hymn was voted the official song of the International Sunshine Society, an organization whose object was to “incite its members to the performance of kind and helpful deeds, and thus bring the sunshine of happiness into the greatest possible number of hearts and homes.”

We know that hearts and homes are touched each spring when the fields and gardens around La Conner burst forth in beautiful blooms.  They are cheery and uplifting in good times and bad.  In this annual challenge, we asked artists to create fiber art inspired by the sunshine and the flowers it brings and they came through!
