Event Description:
For the artist and viewer, color is an essential part of the art. However, color bears often a hidden message, certainly the full spectrum of emotions and has enormous impact on human reception or memory. It often elicits an emotional response in the viewer. Sometimes, even the deliberate absence of color where one would expect color, or a faded, muted color scheme can create this response.
Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt: “a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure.”
SAQA is a dynamic and active community of nearly 4,000 artists, curators, collectors, and art professionals located around the world. Their vision is that the art quilt be universally respected as a fine art medium. Through exhibitions, resources, publications, and membership opportunities, they seek to increase the public’s appreciation for the art quilt and to support their members in their artistic and professional growth.
SAQA artists in the Washington Region thrive in our remarkably diverse and inspiring landscape. We welcome our regional SAQA artists back to the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum. We hope you enjoy their creative work in this vibrant exhibit.
