Event Description:
This Color Mixing Class is designed for beginners to intermediate artists with a desire to learn more about color and how to mix it. Color mixing is an essential skill for all artists. In this class you will learn simple techniques for understanding color and the key elements of color that go into making a great painting. It's something that Master artists do intuitively and it's a skill you can learn to make your paintings more complex, cohesive and beautiful.
Students will work with local artist Laura Parker to develop a working color vocabulary including, contrast of hue, light-dark contrast, cold-warm contrast, and complementary contrast. Additionally, we will explore the psychological aspects of color, personal preference of color. You will also gain a basic and practical understanding of mixing color, handling paint and artist materials. You will learn how to utilize and apply color to your artmaking practice in a coherent, interesting and insightful manner.
