Karin Franzen, a long-time resident of Alaska and full-time studio artist, creates are quilts that are both innovative and yet soundly tied to traditional. Her work revolves around one of her favorite subjects, the birds of Alaska. She uses the skills honed over a lifetime—drawing mathematics, structural design, sewing, an understanding of biology, and a love of birds—to create her work.
