Mar 26 - Jun 12 MoNA: Robert Flynn, From the Permanent Collection
Robert Flynn: Art from the Permanent Collection is a celebration of the prolific career of this

Pacific Northwest artist. Born in 1930, Flynn worked in the Seattle area for 17 years and then another 40

years on the island of Kauai, where he still creates art today. A sculptor, painter, and printmaker, he is

self-trained and taught art at both a junior college and at a night school. Originally employed as a sign

painter with a pictorial style, Flynn decided to leave this profession in order to devote more time to his

art, all with the tremendous support of his wife, Sharon.

In letter to the curator for the exhibit, Flynn recounts how he “was blown away seeing Jackson

Pollock’s work at Seattle Art Museum” sometime in the 1950s. He lists many international modern and

contemporary artists and writers as inspiration for his work, but places a heavy emphasis on Pollock and

the romantic and tonal painter Albert Pinkham Ryder. This exhibit will both sculpture and paintings,

many of which are abstract. The viewer will be able to observe both the thick paint strokes of Ryder,

drops reminiscent of Pollock, and many other Modern art techniques and styles that Flynn made his

own throughout his career.

Jun 4 Market Street Dixieland Jazz Band at The Conway Muse
Jass Band! The Market Street Dixieland Jass Band represents New Orleans style Jazz, Ragtime, Stomps and Blues at it's best. This aggregation of fine players features music from the early 1900's through the 1930's, played in the irresistable dixieland style. From Buddy Bolden and Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton and Joe "King" Oliver, Bix Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong, 1920's torch songs and the 1940's trad revival, these musicians bring to life the toe-tappin', vibrant and exciting sounds of Crescent City jazz. Led by the cornetist Ansgar Duemchen, who has more than 25 years musical experience playing traditional jazz in Europe and the United States, these musicians present a class show that covers more than 50 years of American popular songs. You just can't stay in your chair when you listen to these gentlemen swingin' away--though the tunes may be from the last century, the music is timeless, irresistable and fun!

Jun 17 The Oly Mountain Boys at The Conway Muse
The Oly Mountain Boys play bluegrass with high-energy drive and a Pacific Northwest bent, mixing traditional tunes with revolutionary original bThe Oly Mountain Boys play bluegrass with high-energy drive and a Pacific Northwest bent, mixing traditional tunes with revolutionary original bluegrass compositions. By combining picking prowess with tight three-part vocal harmonies, the band aims to showcase the power and appeal of a truly American musical form. With their latest album "White Horse" the Oly Mountain Boys have set out to do something unprecedented: a concept album that tells a life story from beginning to end through original bluegrass. The album honors tradition by centering its story in Washington's frontier past, while looking to the future of bluegrass music with fresh, original songwriting. - See more at: http://www.olymountainboys.com/band_bio/#sthash.U7cSYlu0.dpuf

Nick Vigarino's Meantown Blues" - Larry Dennis - That slide is naaasty!! - Bo Diddley You shouldn't miss this experience. It's cut and dried this guy kicks a**. - Musician Magazine (NY, NY) Vigarino radiates an unpredictable fervor with slashing slide guitar, powerful vocals, funky licks, modern lyrics, and his slop jar delta funk blues. His style elevates the blues to a place where roots are respected, yet nudged towards the future. He consistently captures, then rivets listeners with precise, passionate performances. - Jefferson Magazine (Sweden) Nick took 2012s Best of the Blues Award for Slide Blues Guitar. Having earned finalist status at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, he is now globally recognized as one of the top blues acts in the world. Jun 23 The Receiver at The Conway Muse
The Receiver - is comprised of brothers Casey (keyboards, bass, vocals) and Jesse Cooper (drums, vocals). Formed in 2005, the brothers quickly expanded on ideas composed the previous year by Casey for his senior thesis in music composition studies at The Ohio State University. After a few live performances, the band was picked up by New York-based Stunning Models On Display Records. With the labels support, the band finished the recording of their debut album Decades in 2006 and celebrated its release later that year with extensive touring throughout North America. Once home, Casey began the near 2-year writing process for their follow-up album Length of Arms. The sophomore effort had its soft (digital-only) release in late 2009 on Vital Music Records. The band just released their latest album, "All Burn" in the summer of 2015 via Kscope Records (UK) to critical acclaim.

Jun 25 Shakespeare's Wonderland
Shakespeare Northwest presents Shakespeare in the Park, its annual free summer touring production of “Shakespeare’s Wonderland,” an original work in which Alice’s trip down the rabbit hole finds the strange world of Wonderland inhabited by characters even stranger than its usual suspects: a Caterpillar Polonius; Hamlet, the Mad Hatter; and Lady MacBeth as the March Hare, plus a myriad of other cross-cast characters! Add to that two bickering authors and the stage is set for some delightful hijinks to be enjoyed ‘all on a summer’s afternoon’. Jun 25 CD Woodbury Band at The Conway Muse
- CD Woodbury - Guitarist, Vocalist, & Songwriter Within the last five years, CD Woodbury has transformed himself from journeyman sideman and ?the NW?s best kept secret? into an internationally recognized rising star of the Pacific NW blues scene with his work as singer, songwriter, and guitarist for the CD Woodbury Band. Their debut studio album, Monday Night! charted internationally in its genre and was the Roots Radio Reports #1 album from Washington State for 30 straight weeks. CD Woodbury has seven Best of the Blues awards from the Seattle based Washington Blues Society including performer of the year, songwriter, NW recording, and 3 times for electric guitar. Now on his own, CD is currently performing contemporary blues, roots music, rhythm & blues, jazz, and New Orleans influenced music with his newly formed trio of himself, Don Montana on drums (CDWB, Tim Casey and the Bluescats), and bassist Patrick McDanel (Mary McPage & the Assassins, Brian Nova). C.D. Woodbury has performed in Texas Roadhouses and in Stadiums. He has performed for two US Presidents, foreign dignitaries, and Jimi's music for the Hendrix family. He has jammed with jazz legends, international blues stars, and has worked with sidemen to the biggest rock acts. Though he has played many styles, he always returns to the blues and American roots music on his guitar. The Washington Blues Society awarded CD Woodbury BB Awards eight awards, including Songwriter, Blues Performer, and three times for Electric Guitar. In 2013, The CD Woodbury Band released "Monday Night!", which gained international airplay and was consistently in the Roots Report charts Blues Top 50 and at #1 for their WA State Roots Radio chart for more than 6 months. "Monday NIght!" was selected to represent the Washington Blues Society for The Best Self-Produced CD competition in the International Blues Challenge and was named a top 5 finalist for the same CD competition. The band made several appearances at Jerry Lee Lewis' Club during that week, and the club revived the title "King's of Beale Street" and gave the band the 2014 bragging rights. In 2015 the CD Woodbury Band returned to the IBC as a performer, and reached the Semi-Final level, performing immediately after that year's Finals winner, Eddie Cotton Jr. They did achieve another bit of bragging rights in Memphis that year: while hundreds of acts from all over the world were doing every performance they could for any and all exposure they could get, the CD Woodbury Band was paid to perform Friday night on Beale Street at Jerry Lee's. http://www.cdwoodbury.com/
