Name: Fire and Ice: Love's Incarnations by Cantabile Chamber Choir
Date: April 27, 2018
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Cantabile Chamber Choir’s concerts, Fire and Ice: Love’s Incarnations, (April 27, 28, and 29 in Anacortes, Snohomish and Mount Vernon), feature songs that speak truth to anyone who’s ever been in love. Skillfully directed by Dr. Stephen Marshall-Ward, these being his final concerts with Cantabile, the singers and audience explore the intensity of love, passion, and even scorn, in a wide-ranging concert repertoire. The varied program includes six fiery madrigals of love and loss by Lauridsen, and Stroope’s lovely ode to undying love, Amor de Me Alma, as well as folk-style love songs by Holst and Vaughan Williams. The concert’s musical journey, through these many aspects of love, ends on a lighter note, with the catchy “Seasons of Love” from Rent, and Beatles’ favorite, “All You Need Is Love.” So there’s something about love here for everyone! For a more in-depth experience, come to an interpretive lecture by Dr. Marshall-Ward beginning 45 minutes before the concerts.
