Kaleidoscope: Fiber Embroidery at La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum

Liz Whitney Quisgard’s work features a three-dimensional quality captured on a two-dimensional surface using careful placement of hundreds of tiny stitches. In her own words, “My goal is to surprise and engage the mind by seducing the eye.” Using a vibrant collage of colors, she achieves this goal with her vivid works of art. A painter for sixty years, Quisgard started embroidery just over a decade ago. Her work is at times very structured and symmetrical; at other times very abstract and free-form.
