Event Description:
In the Benaroya Glass Gallery this spring, we feature a series of modified cement castings made by Allen Moe, the latest work by Skagit's own artist-adventurer.
Moe's reliefs are a kind of organic expressionism; they document and abstract the very land they come from. The artist likens his process to photography: he records information by making a negative (the plaster casting of the tide flats), and from that he casts a postive in cement. Instead of recording light, Moe captures the physical presence of these landforms.
This series is a chronicle of a specific time and place at the mouth of the Skagit River, not far from this Museum.
